The Los Angeles Dodgers pulled off history this year, and they're already itching for more.
After taking down the Toronto Blue Jays to win this year's riveting World Series in seven games, the Dodgers are Major League Baseball's first repeat champions since the 2000 New York Yankees. But those Yankees won three in a row, so the Dodgers already have a new mark to strive for. Manager Dave Roberts wasted no time declaring those intentions at the World Series parade on Monday.
“He (former Los Angeles Lakers coach Pat Riley) gave me the OK to use this phrase,” Roberts said, per Dan Martin of the New York Post. “Pat Riley, what’s better than two? Three! Three-peat!”

If anyone knows how tough it is to win three in a row, however, it's the manager of those Yankees teams, Joe Torre. And on Wednesday, Torre had some words of caution for Roberts, while he was highly complimentary of the Dodgers skipper's work over the last decade.
“A three-peat is nice to get, but you can’t drive yourself nuts by saying you want it at the start of the season,’’ Torre told Martin. “There are too many obstacles in the way. You have to try to keep everything on a day-to-day basis.”
“He (Roberts) did a hell of a job in the World Series and made all the right moves. So he knows what he’s doing. You always have to dangle a carrot for yourself and your team. Instead of, ‘Look at what we did,’ you say, ‘Look what we can do.’ Dave has his head screwed on right.”
Torre understands the pressures of managing in LA as well, as he moved on from the Yankees to manage the Dodgers from 2008 to 2010. From there, he moved onto the Major League Baseball league office, where he has served in an assistant role to the office of the commissioner for the last 15 years.
The Yankees are certainly one of the teams standing in the Dodgers' way en route to a third-straight title, but after their embarrassing loss against Los Angeles in last year's Fall Classic, they took a step back this year with a loss to the Blue Jays in the division series.
