A woman from Toronto was left in stitches after noticing an unexpected—and slightly spooky—detail in a seemingly normal photo with her boyfriend.

Megan Doron, 25, was visiting a farm when she decided to take some cute pictures with her partner.

“My family and I just got back from the cranberry farm and as normal we took pictures,” Doron told Newsweek. “When I got back home I was going through them. I didn’t notice at first but then I was like OMG! And immediately sent it to my sisters.”

The photo, which shows Doron smiling with her boyfriend on a sunny fall day, appeared completely ordinary at first glance. But upon closer inspection, the couple’s shadow has formed the silhouette of a mysterious third figure on the man’s shirt, complete with a long nose and exaggerated profile.

In the video caption, she wrote: "Now I'm even more self conscious about my side profile."

“My sisters and I couldn’t stop laughing so I thought why not post it and make other people laugh—if they even notice it,” Doron said. “Looking at the comments it’s actually a mix of people who didn’t notice it at first, others laughing and saying I look like different characters from movies.”

Doron shared the moment with friends on her group chat, before taking to the internet to ensure a wider audience could enjoy the unexpected shadow moment.

The TikTok video, captioned “Thinking this was a nice picture with my boyfriend,” has since gained viral attention online, racking up more than 7.1 million views.

Commenters have had a field day with the eerie shadow illusion. One user joked, “That’s the Wicked 2 movie poster,” while another asked, “Is there someone you can sue??”

Others began sharing their own accidental “optical illusion” photos, where light and shadow turned ordinary moments into something far more entertaining.

This is far from the first time a picture illusion has captured online attention. From the moment a woman spotted something she called a “glitch in the Matrix” in a Tokyo street to the time one mom’s body appeared to vanish in a family photo.

And in some cases, the type of lens on a camera can affect your face shape. Professional photographer, Harrison, took a series of selfies using more than ten different sizes, ranging from 16mm to 200mm, and shared the results to his Instagram page @Harrison.

The viral montage reveals his face looking slimmer when shot with the lowest lens, with his face appearing larger the bigger the lens he uses.

For Doron, she was delighted by the response online, thrilled that others could get a laugh out of her unexpected moment. “I’m honestly happy with the reaction,” she said. “I truly wasn’t expecting it to blow up as much as it did but overall I’m happy I can make people laugh!”
