Having had very calm cats in the past, Danielle DeMarco decided to extend her family even more by rescuing a kitten in 2022. How hard could it be to add another four-legged friend into the mix? Enter Loki, the king of chaos.

DeMarco, from Long Island, New York, has always loved cats, and it seemed like a no-brainer to get a sibling for Diesel, her orange cat. Ever since she brought that feline home, it was clear that he has a very relaxed and laid-back temperament. Indeed, DeMarco told Newsweek that Diesel is "known for doing nothing" all day long, and she wouldn't have him any other way.

In 2022, DeMarco visited North Shore Animal League America where she met Loki, an 8-week-old kitten in need of a home. Given how easygoing Diesel is, DeMarco thought it would be the same this time round, and she loved the idea of having two chilled-out cats relaxing in her home.

Loki on kitchen counter, steals food

...

Loki, on the other hand, had a very different vision for his life.

"Loki is mischievous, energetic, smart (as he knows so many tricks), and just loves to cause trouble," DeMarco said. "But he gets away with all his antics by being extremely sweet and lovable."

While the cats she has had in the past were "typically much calmer," Loki has highlighted just how different they can be.

DeMarco couldn't resist documenting her rescue cat's antics on social media by creating a dedicated account to Loki: @loki.doestricks on Instagram and @lokidoestricks on TikTok. Internet users can't get enough of this cheeky cat, as many of the videos have gone viral with millions of views.

From helping himself to food, playing dress-up in costumes, or rolling around in his pet-sized Lamborghini, Loki is living his best life.

On June 19, DeMarco shared an Instagram Reel saying that she decided to get a cat because "they're easy," whereas "kids are a lot of work." How wrong she was.

The video shows a montage of Loki's finest moments, from stealing pizza from the kitchen counter, sneaking into cupboards, knocking bottles over, and raiding the kitchen for snacks. The hilarious clip has delighted social-media users, leading to more than 541,000 views and over 42,100 likes on Instagram at the time of writing.

Loki has become something of a social-media sensation, as DeMarco said people love that he is "a constant source of entertainment."

DeMarco continued: "One of the most-shocking things he did happens to be our most-viral video—it has over 125 million views on Instagram and was nominated for a Webby Award in 2024. That video is how several news outlets started referring to him as the most chaotic cat on the internet.

"I often joke that he is an internationally recognized criminal because of all the attention that video received," DeMarco said.

Being a parent certainly has its ups and downs, but being a cat mom to Loki is by no means a walk in the park.

With over 400 comments on the viral Instagram Reel, plenty of social-media users have taken to the comments to laud his iconic antics.

One comment reads: "Loki is another species."

Another Instagram user wrote: "Nothing better than a Loki theft compilation!"

A third person replied: "Are you suggesting that Loki isn't easy? He is such an angel."

One commenter posted: "Brain never gets past being a toddler."
