A woman who is proudly millennial has turned to the internet to ask people why they think her generation looks so much younger than Generation X did at that age—and the responses do not disappoint.

In a now viral video, Kristen Almasan, 35, asked her fellow millennials (people born between 1981 and 1996) what they did right in life which means they still look so great now. That's because, in her view, millennials in their thirties and early forties look much younger than Gen Xers (people born between 1965 and 1980) did when they were a similar age.

"I was just thinking about how the generation under us are aging so fast, and it got me thinking that we didn't age that fast. So, I wanted to see if my fellow millennials agreed with me," Almasan told Newsweek.

There could be many reasons behind this logic, but in Almasan's view, it's because millennials had "the best of both worlds." No, they weren't living the Hannah Montana life, but they grew up with just enough exposure to the internet to keep up with trends, without it being at the center of everything they did.

Millennials looking young

...

Nowadays, Generation Z (people born between 1997 and 2012) are so engrossed in social media and have grown up wanting to recreate the influencer lifestyle. Almasan thinks this factors into why younger generations "look older," because they're consumed by lavish beauty and makeup routines from an early age.

"The internet started to come out in the '90s, so the generation before us didn't have a chance for it when they were kids," she continued.

She posted her thoughts on TikTok (@krisalmasan) and the video has gone viral with more than 1.3 million views and over 139,300 likes in just a matter of days.

In the video, she jokes that maybe it was "the Hot Pockets" they used to eat, or playing in all that hose water outside.

Almasan has been blown away by the online response since sharing the video online, as she never imagined it would generate this much attention. But as it turns out, many of her fellow millennials couldn't agree more.

"I was honestly shocked that every millennial who responded to me agreed that we did indeed age a whole lot better than any generation," Almasan told Newsweek. "I do have a favorite response, and the one that made me laugh the most is that everyone said it was the Flintstones vitamins."

In just a matter of days, the viral TikTok video has amassed over 24,600 comments, as plenty of millennials shared their thoughts on why they look so youthful.

Among the thousands of responses, one person wrote: "We had an awkward phase so we didn't peak at an early age."

Another TikTok user joked: "It was forwarding the chain mail."

Another person replied: "We didn't have social media in middle school. I swear it's that."

"We didn't have 12 step skincare routines when we were 10," added one commenter.

While one comment reads: "Maybe it's the business casual outfits we wore to the club."

Of course, Almasan doesn't wish to disparage Gen X or Gen Z, she was just fascinated by these observations she's made. Every generation grows up during their own unique time, which is what makes them individual and different to their older and younger counterparts.

But there's no doubt which generation Almasan prefers the most.

She said: "I think that every generation had its very own special way of living and their very own trends for their time. I love every generation, and I think they are all awesome, but I do have to say that millennials are the best of all time."
