A private jet owned by Mötley Crüe frontman Vince Neil was involved in a plane crash on Monday, which left a pilot dead and the star's girlfriend, Rain Hannah Andreani, was injured.

Why It Matters

The incident comes amid a spate of crashes and near-misses between planes in the U.S. On January 29, 67 people were killed when a passenger plane carrying top figure skaters was involved in a mid-air crash with an Army Black Hawk helicopter in the skies above Washington D.C. Three people onboard the chopper were also killed. And 10 passengers and crew members were killed in a plane crash in Alaska on Thursday last week.

However, experts insist that American air travel remains safe and it is actually statistically safer than traveling by car, according to government figures.

Newsweek has reached out to the Federal Aviation Authority seeking further information and comment about the crash.

What To Know

Neil was not onboard when the plane veered off the runway after landing and crashed into another plane at Scottsdale Airport in Arizona on Monday afternoon. But the 64-year-old's girlfriend, Andreani, 43, and her friend were rushed to hospital following the deadly smash, and one of the two pilots on board was killed.

Attention has now turned toward Andreani—known professionally as Rain Hannah—amid speculation about her and her friend's condition.

Celebrity news website TMZ reported that Andreani suffered five broken ribs, and several pet dogs who were also onboard all survived. It is believed that the jet's landing gear failed to deploy properly upon touchdown, according to a preliminary investigation.

Andreani and Neil have been a couple for more than a decade after going public with their romance back in 2012 after the end of his fourth marriage, according to Amo Mama website, a women's news outlet.

Andreani often shares pictures of the pair together on her social media pages, and she reposted a shot on X (formerly Twitter) which had been originally uploaded by a Mötley Crüe fan. Andreani's X profile says she is from Nashville, Tennessee.

Andreani is a makeup artist, who has her own YouTube channel named Rain Hannah, which features tips and advice about cosmetics. Most of the videos are aimed at women, but others feature creepy looks for Halloween, and her most popular video (with almost 2 million views) shows how to apply the "official Gene Simmons makeup look [from] KISS."

On her profile on the professional networking website LinkedIn, she describes herself as a "Beauty Educator & Celebrity Makeup Artist," from Las Vegas, Nevada. The "about" section of her page adds that, "As a graduate of the University of Nevada, Las Vegas with a bachelor's degree in Communications, Rain's ability to relate to others is unmatched. She decided to share her inside [makeup] secrets with those who share her passion by using advanced virtual technology that creates a classroom environment that can be accessed from anywhere in the world."

Andreani is also an accomplished horsewoman and her Instagram page, also under the name Rain Hannah, is mostly filled with pictures of her with horses, although Neil sometimes makes an appearance.

In November, she shared a shot of the pair at a horse show and captioned the image: "This last weekend running and placing at the finals for the AQHA World Show will be something I will always cherish. The greatest part was sharing it with my love @thevinceneil and being coached by the GREATEST world champion barrel racer and dear friend @lgbarrelracer."

What People Are Saying

A spokesperson for Mötley Crüe released a statement on X, which was later deleted in favor of a more generic announcement about the crash. The original statement said: "Earlier today [Monday], a private plane owned by Vince Neil was involved in a crash near Scottsdale, AZ. The pilot was tragically killed; the co-pilot and other passengers were taken to local hospitals. Vince was not on the plane. Vince's girlfriend and her friend suffered injuries, albeit not life-threatening.

"While details are still emerging, our hearts go out to the families about the pilot who lost his life in the passengers who suffered injuries [sic]. Mötley Crüe will announce a way to help support the family of the deceased pilot – stand by for an announcement very soon."

The band's remaining statement, which is still on its X and Instagram sites, and was written by the band's legal representative Worrick Robinson, said: "At 2:39 p.m. local time, a Learjet aircraft Model 35A owned by Vince Neil was attempting to land at the Scottsdale Airport. For reasons unknown at this time, the plane veered from the runway causing it to collide with another parked plane. On board Mr. Neil's plane were two pilots and two passengers. Mr. Neil was not on the plane.

"More specific details regarding the collision are not available as this is a rapidly evolving situation and there is an ongoing investigation. Mr. Neil's thoughts and prayers go out to everyone involved, and he is grateful for the critical aid of all first responders assisting today."

What Happens Next

There will be an official investigation into the cause of the crash. More details are expected to emerge about the incident over the coming days, with further statements from the band expected.
