The biggest storyline coming out of NXT is the mystery of who attacked former NXT Champion Aleister Black.
After the September 26 episode of NXT went off the air, Nikki Cross interrupted a Sarah Schreiber interview with The Undisputed Era. In the clip, Cross runs toward them saying that "they are forgetting the most important thing. I know who attacked Aleister Black" before running off laughing.

Aleister Black was attacked on NXT television a few weeks before NXT Takeover: Brooklyn IV on August 18 where he was set to face Johnny Gargano and NXT Champion Tommaso Ciampa in a Triple Threat match.
The attack forced Black out of the Triple Threat, leading to Gargano and Ciampa having a No Disqualification match in the main event with Ciampa coming out on top.
In the weeks following Takeover, NXT General Manager William Regal launched an investigation to find the culprit, but has yet to determine exactly who did it. With so many NXT Superstars present in the parking lot of Full Sail University at the time of the attack, Regal has had a hard time pinpointing the culprit.
Cross coming out to say that she knows could be just what Regal needs, but can Nikki be trusted? Her demeanor and borderline psychotic tendencies don't make her the most reliable source.
As NXT gets ready for Takeover: War Games on November 17, fans can expect the mystery to be solved (or close to being solved) in the near future.
