What To Know

Columbus patrol officers were dispatched to the 1400 block of North 4th Street for a well-being check at 10:04 a.m. on Tuesday.

Officers found two adult victims suffering apparent gunshot wounds at the scene. Medical personnel pronounced both victims dead at 10:11 a.m.

Spencer and Monique Tepe lived in the Weinland Park neighborhood of Columbus. They had two young children, The Columbus Dispatch reported.

Spencer Tepe worked as a dentist at Athens Dental Depot in Athens, according to the business' website. He received his bachelor's degree and doctor of dental surgery from the Ohio State University, the website said.

In a statement on Facebook, Dr. Mark Valrose and the Dental Depot team wrote: "It is with heavy hearts that we share the sudden passing of our dear colleague and friend, Dr. Spencer Tepe, as well as his wife Monique. He will be deeply missed by our team and the many patients he cared for over the years. Our thoughts and sincerest condolences are with their families and loved ones during this very difficult time."

Valrose, who owns Athens Dental Depot, called 911 to request a welfare check after Spencer Tepe failed to show up for work, WSYX reported.

"He is always on time and he would contact us if there was any issues," Valrose told dispatchers, according to the outlet. "I don't know how else to say this but we are very, very concerned. This is very out of character for him. We can't get in touch with his wife, which is probably the more concerning thing."

What People Are Saying
