Given President Donald Trump's love of burgers, it is perhaps a blessing that he has left preparations for Tuesday night's state dinner with French President Emmanuel Macron and his wife Brigitte to the first lady, Melania Trump.

The Trumps are set to serve The Macrons a three-course dinner in the White House's State Dining Room, which seats up to 150, CNN reported. This is a smaller state dinner than those hosted by former president Barack Obama and his wife Michelle.

Planned by White House executive chef Cristeta Comerford, Tuesday night's menu is a far cry from the junk food-style preferences of the president, who enjoyed McDonald's and Diet Coke on the campaign trail.

Celebrating 1237! #Trump2016

And the president has not previously allowed dinner with foreign leaders to sway his food choices, notably being served "Stewed Beef Steak in Tomato Sauce," during his trip to China at the end of last year; possibly an homage to Trump's love of steak with ketchup, as the South China Morning Post reported.

However, of late, the president has opted for healthier foods in a bid to improve his diet and lose some weight, Bloomberg reported, with the three-course dinner he will enjoy on Tuesday night distinctly healthier than a bag of burgers and fries.

The first course consists of a goat cheese gateau and lettuce salad with tomato jam and buttermilk biscuit crumbles, The Washington Post reported, while the main course features a seasonal spring lamb accompanied by jambalaya and Carolina Gold rice.

For the vegetables, the first lady hasn't strayed too far from her predecessor, reportedly using greens and herbs from the garden planted by Michelle Obama.

And for dessert, the leaders and their partners will enjoy a nectarine tart with ice cream, with the meal served with wine from the U.S. West Coast.
