A newly engaged man has called for help on Reddit after discovering the poor quality of his proposal pictures.

On Valentine's Day, during a dining cruise on the Spirit of Philadelphia in Pennsylvania, the 27-year-old got down on one knee and asked his girlfriend to marry him. However, when he checked the photos, he realized his picture-perfect moment was anything but.

While the photos were meant to preserve a special memory, they came out dark, blurry and marked by distracting light flares.

Rather than resigning himself to the subpar images, the man turned to Reddit's /r/PhotoshopRequest forum for help. On February 15, writing under the username /u/moekaoui, he created a post titled "I proposed to my girlfriend last night but the pictures are horrible."

"Hello everyone, as you can see the light flares and quality is not the greatest. I'd love if anyone would be willing to enhance the quality and remove the flares," he wrote, adding: "If anyone can fix that that would also be amazing. I'd be willing to give a tip. Any help is greatly appreciated."

The post quickly gained traction, amassing more than 10,000 upvotes as Reddit users reacted to both the wholesome request and the challenge of improving the photos. While many viewers offered to help, the technical limitations of the original images made enhancing them a difficult task.

"Sadly, no one online was able to help with the quality, but I do appreciate everyone's hard work," the man, who chose to remain anonymous, told Newsweek.

Since he spoke with Newsweek, several Reddit users have shared their edited versions of the images in the comments section of the post, attempting to sharpen the focus, reduce glare and adjust the brightness to better capture the moment.

The post has received mostly supportive comments, with some viewers attempting fixes and others simply congratulating the poster on his engagement.

"Congratulates on your engagement," one user said. "I am glad that some were able to help."

"That's a hard one, reminder to clean your phone cameras whenever you want to take a picture or a video," a commenter added. "I did my best, happy to make any changes!"

Another user was less optimistic about the possibility of the images being improved.

"I don't want to give you a false hope, but I don't think it can be recovered unless you give a photo of yours, girlfriend to better understand the features," they said. "Without this, the images generated will likely be random AI-generated faces, which may not resemble you or your wife."

Despite the photographic hiccup, the proposal itself went off without a hitch. Even if no amount of editing can fully salvage the pictures, it is clear to delighted viewers that the moment will remain unforgettable for the young couple.
