President Donald Trump has endorsed Representative Lauren Boebert for reelection, months after calling the Colorado Republican “dumb” and “weak-minded” and threatening to withdraw his support after she campaigned for Representative Thomas Massie, a frequent Republican critic of the president.

Trump on Friday called Boebert an “America First Patriot” and a “MAGA Warrior” who was “doing an incredible job representing Colorado’s 4th Congressional District.” He added: “Lauren Boebert has my Complete and Total Endorsement for Re-Election. GET OUT AND VOTE FOR LAUREN — SHE WILL NEVER LET YOU DOWN!”

In a Friday afternoon X post, the congresswoman wrote that she "just finished a FANTASTIC Tele Rally with President Trump!" adding, "We’re going to win on Tuesday and SAVE AMERICA!"

The endorsement comes just days before Tuesday’s midterm elections and marks a sharp change in tone from May, when Trump publicly turned on Boebert after she campaigned for Massie.

Newsweek reached out to the White House and the campaigns of Boebert and her Democratic opponent, Laubacher, for comment.

Trump’s Feud With Lauren Boebert

Trump lashed out at Boebert in May after she campaigned with Massie, a frequent Republican critic of the president who was then fighting a Trump-backed primary challenger.

Before Trump’s attack, Boebert had defended supporting Massie while maintaining her allegiance to the president. “I support both of these men,” she wrote on X, calling Massie her friend and Trump her friend and president. “And if that makes you angry, bless your heart.”

“Is anyone interested in running against Weak Minded Lauren Boebert in Colorado’s Fourth Congressional District?” Trump wrote at the time. He went on to criticize Boebert for supporting Massie, writing that “anybody who can be that dumb deserves a good Primary fight!”

“Even though I long ago endorsed Boebert, if the right person came along, it would be my Honor to withdraw that Endorsement, and endorse a good and proper alternative,” he wrote.

Boebert, however, maintained her support for Trump.

“Yes, I saw the President’s post. No, I’m not mad or offended,” she said at the time. “I knew the risks when I agreed to stand by my friend Thomas Massie. I was, and will be, America First, America Always, and MAGA.”

Later that month, Boebert told Denver station 9NEWS that she did not regard the president’s treatment of her as abusive.

“Interesting. I don't see it as abuse. I think it's part of the D.C. nature. Nothing happens in D.C. without force,” Boebert said. The congresswoman added that her “support for the president has not changed.”

Boebert also said she had anticipated Trump would attack her over her support for Massie.

“The president is always going to come up with something like that,” she said. “I was actually curious as to what name he was going to give me, because I was expecting him to say something publicly when he found out I was campaigning for Congressman Thomas Massie.”

Trump Endorses Boebert Ahead of 2026 Midterms

Five months later, Trump is again firmly behind Boebert as she seeks reelection in Colorado’s 4th Congressional District against Laubacher, a retired Navy rear admiral.

Trump made a broader appeal to Colorado voters Friday, urging them to support Republican congressional candidates Jeff Hurd, Boebert, Jeff Crank and Gabe Evans and saying they all had his “Complete and Total Endorsement.”

In a separate post devoted to Boebert’s race, Trump praised the congresswoman for working to cut taxes and regulations, expand American energy production, secure the border, support the military and veterans and defend gun rights.

He also attacked Laubacher as a “Radical Left Democrat” and claimed she was opposed to “NO TAX ON TIPS, NO TAX ON OVERTIME, and NO TAX ON SOCIAL SECURITY.”

However, Trump’s characterization of her positions on tips and overtime conflicts with Laubacher’s publicly stated views. Laubacher told The Colorado Sun this month that she believes the tax breaks for workers earning tips and overtime in the One Big Beautiful Bill Act should be made permanent. She also said she supports the law’s increase in the child tax credit and would raise the credit further.

Lauren Boebert Faces Eileen Laubacher in Colorado

Laubacher served 34 years in the Navy before retiring in 2024.

Boebert and Laubacher faced off in their only scheduled debate on October 12, trading attacks over the Trump administration, veterans, foreign policy and Boebert’s record in Congress.

The Colorado race comes as Republicans and Democrats battle for control of the House in Tuesday’s midterm elections.

Boebert has represented the state’s Republican-leaning 4th District since 2025 after previously representing its 3rd Congressional District. The 4th is Colorado’s most Republican-leaning congressional district.
