A toddler was pronounced dead after falling out of a window at a high-rise apartment building in Chicago.
A spokesperson for the Chicago Police Department told Newsweek that the incident occurred on Tuesday night at approximately 7 p.m. local time.

Shortly after the fall, emergency responders transported the 3-year-old boy to the Illinois Masonic Hospital. The boy was eventually pronounced deceased at the hospital, the spokesperson told Newsweek.
"Area detectives are investigating," the spokesperson added.
According to WLS-TV in Chicago, the Cook County Medical Examiner's Office later identified the 3-year-old boy as Chaise Binion.
WLS-TV spoke with some other residents of the apartment building who explained that the windows open toward the inside of the building. However, police did not reveal more information on how the 3-year-old exactly fell out, and residents told the local news station that it's possible a small child could crawl into the window's opening.
Tracy Redmond, a resident of the building where the incident occurred, told WLS-TV, "We saw them when they brought the little kid down on the stretcher."
Redmond continued, "They was giving him chest compressions, and you could see where his face was all bloody."
The mother of a girl who lives in the Lake View Towers Apartments, Etenesh Gebeyehu, also spoke to WLS-TV about the incident.
"The mother was on the floor, yeah, when they took him with the stretcher. She was on the floor crying, you know. Crying, her forehead on the floor," Gebeyehu told the local news station.
A somewhat similar incident occurred in October 2021, when a child fell out of an apartment building window and died.
The 3-year-old boy, identified by police as Daniel Galeas, was found lying unconscious outside of an apartment building in the Harlem neighborhood of New York.
"Upon arrival, responding officers were informed by EMS that they encountered an unconscious and unresponsive 3-year-old male in the rear of the location with injuries indicative of a fall from an elevated position," a spokesperson for the New York Police Department told Newsweek at the time.
