Steve Bannon vowed to "secure" the election for Donald Trump this year, as he headed to D.C. to work with Trump allies.

Bannon, a former White House strategist and current WarRoom host on the online video platform Rumble, told CBS on Tuesday morning that he would be spending tonight at the Willard Washington D.C. hotel, the same place he stayed the night before the January 6 riots in 2021.

Prior to the attack on the Capitol, Bannon gathered a "war room" together at the hotel to strategize methods for countering Joe Biden, according to the 2021 Bob Woodward and Robert Costa book Peril and other statements made by Bannon.

He told the news channel on Tuesday: "Unlike in 2020, we will secure Trump's victory this time."

Newsweek contacted Bannon and the Trump campaign via email for comment on Tuesday.

Bannon was released from prison one week ago after serving a four-month sentence for two counts of contempt of Congress for failing to respond to a House Select Committee-issued subpoena investigating the January 6 attack.

His statements to CBS are part of Bannon's weeklong campaign to try to secure the election for Trump, and to ensure that Trump has a team behind him after the polls close.

Speaking on Steve Bannon's War Room livestream on Monday, conservative political commentator Tucker Carlson discussed Trump's loyal team and spoke about why he believed Trump would have support around him if the election was contested.

Carlson said: "I'll pray that it isn't [contested] you know. I think all of us do, on both sides, pray that it's not contested, but if it is it's not going to be Trump out alone …"

The former Fox News anchor added that Elon Musk's support meant a lot for Trump's chances at contesting the 2024 Election because Musk had "the most to lose" by backing Trump, given that he is a central government contractor.

After being released from prison, Bannon likened himself to a political prisoner and said, as reported by Newsweek: "The four months in federal prison, not only didn't break me, it empowered me.

"I am more energized and more focused than I've ever been in my entire lie and I can see clearly, just like in 2016 and in 2020, exactly what's going on here."

Following his release, Bannon spoke to Newsweek about his election predictions, saying that he was "close to 100 percent" certain of a Trump win.
