After much anticipation, Spotify users can now check out their 2022 Spotify Wrapped results and the new features that are included this year.

Many of these listeners have taken to Twitter pre- and post-release of this year's Spotify Wrapped to talk about what they expected to see in their year in review, which prompted #SpotifyWrapped to take the platform's top trending spot at the time of publication.

According to a press release issued by Spotify, listeners were given their typical roundup of the top artists, songs and genres they listened to, but they were introduced to two new features.

Users learned about their "Listening Personality" and how their taste in music changed from morning to night through "Audio Day."

"Your Wrapped will showcase your Listening Personality based on how you listened to music throughout the year," the release said.

Audio Day is a story that showed the "niche moods" of what Spotify users listened to morning, midday and at night.

After the success of last year's Spotify Wrapped feature that included Artist Messages, the music streaming platform brought it back.

"With your Artist Messages this year, select fans will receive end-of-year thank-you videos from some of their 2022 top artists, with each video followed up by their most listened song from that artist this year," the release said.

It noted that 100 artists participated in these messages last year, but it has since expanded to include more than 40,000 artists.

An exciting release for many listeners, many Twitter users were discussing Spotify Wrapped in the days leading up to this year's release.

"Spotify wrapped isn't enough, I want an excel spreadsheet of my listening habits," a Twitter user joked.

While some poke fun at those who share what their Wrapped looks like, one Twitter user encouraged them to post the results.

"I genuinely like seeing everyone's spotify wrapped i think it's really fun," read the text over the meme.

Spotify listeners flooded Twitter once they got their Wrapped results. Most posted their simple breakdown of their top artists and songs, but some took it as an opportunity to joke about their Wrapped playlist.

"Me pretending to be shocked that harry styles is my top artist," a tweet read, which was accompanied by a photo of Miranda Cosgrove's character, Carly Shay of Nickelodeon's iCarly, looking surprised while staring at a computer screen.

Another tweet that was published echoed a similar sentiment as the Twitter user feigned astonishment upon learning their top artist was Taylor Swift.

Other search terms on Twitter began trending as they related to Spotify Wrapped, like "Top 0.5%" and "EMBARRASSING."

"I'm in the top 0.5% of [Beyoncé] listeners so that means i get free floor tickets to the renaissance world tour right?????" a Twitter user joked.

"Lmao alright where's Taylor's top 0.0001% listener(s) this year I know you're out there and about to make my 0.5% look bad," tweeted another.

Some, however, talked about whether they felt embarrassed after looking back on what they listened to throughout the year.

One said they decided to post because it isn't "as embarrassing as it normally is."

But another Spotify listener wanted to keep their review private.

"Waited all year for Spotify Wrapped and it's too embarrassing to share," they wrote.

In addition to individual users getting a comprehensive breakdown of what their listening habits looked like, Spotify shared overall streaming statistics, including the top global artists of the year, the top songs worldwide and the most-streamed albums across the world.

For the third year in a row, Bad Bunny topped the list as the world's most-streamed artist, per Spotify. Behind him were Taylor Swift, Drake, The Weeknd and BTS.

"As It Was" by Harry Styles was the most-streamed song, while Bad Bunny's album "Un Verano Sin Ti" took the top spot for the world's most-streamed album.
