A major championship match is reportedly planned for John Cena's retirement tour. According to a new report, Cena is scheduled to challenge Dominik Mysterio for the Intercontinental Championship at Survivor Series: WarGames.
The report, from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, places the high-stakes title match at the November 29 premium live event in San Diego, California. This would be Cena's second-to-last match before his final in-ring appearance on December 13.

The match is significant for Cena's legacy, as the Intercontinental Championship is the one major title he has never held in his illustrious career. A victory over Mysterio would make him a WWE Grand Slam Champion, providing a storybook element to his final run.
The planned match would pit the beloved retiring legend against one of the most despised heels in the company, "Dirty Dom" of The Judgment Day. The encounter would be a major attraction for the Survivor Series event.

Cena's final match in December is being positioned by WWE as a major mainstream spectacle. The same Wrestling Observer report notes that the company is inviting and expecting a "ton of people from the White House" to be in attendance at the Washington, D.C. show.
"Right now the belief is there will be a ton of people from the White House at the show, but Trump is undecided at the moment, but a lot of major people have already told WWE they are coming," Dave Meltzer wrote.
Before John Cena can think about becoming a Grand Slam Champion, he must first get through a long-time rival. Tomorrow night at the Crown Jewel premium live event, Cena is scheduled to face AJ Styles, and the outcome will determine what momentum Cena carries into his reported championship showdown with Dominik Mysterio next month.
