Despite his lack of presence in the US wrestling scene, Alberto El Patrón, formerly known as Alberto Del Rio in WWE, remains a notable figure in Mexican wrestling. However, a recent incident has resulted in a 180-day suspension for him in Tijuana.
The suspension stems from an event on March 14th, where El Patrón wrestled El Hijo del Dr. Wagner Jr. During the match, fans reportedly threw coins at him, prompting him to enter the crowd and throw a chair.

Patron has experienced a career marked by both significant achievements and serious controversies. In 2020, he faced accusations of kidnapping and assault from a former girlfriend. However, the case was ultimately dismissed after the accuser recanted her statement and a key witness failed to appear in court.
Patron's WWE tenure, which began in 2009 with his main roster debut in 2010, saw him become a multiple-time world champion and a Money in the Bank contract winner. Notably, he was the first Mexico-born world champion in WWE history.
He also achieved a unique feat by winning the 40-man Royal Rumble match in 2011 and held the United States Championship twice. His time in WWE was also punctuated by controversy, including his 2014 firing following an incident involving a racist joke.
Patron returned to the company in 2015, regaining the United States Championship, but left again in 2016. Patron's time with WWE ended permanently a few years later.
