Across his two spells with WWE, Drew McIntyre has accomplished nearly every major goal available. The Scottish star has won multiple World Championships, headlined "WrestleMania," and secured victories in both the "Royal Rumble" match and the "Money In The Bank" briefcase match, in addition to holding four other championships.
Despite this extensive resume, McIntyre still feels he has more to achieve, particularly involving his home country. During an interview with SportBible, which was conducted before his title match at "Saturday Night's Main Event," McIntyre spoke about his long-standing desire to return to the UK as the reigning World Champion and headline a major event.
“It’s something I’ve been wanting to do [return home with the title], I think I started talking about it in 2019, going into the Royal Rumble in 2020 when I won, that I’m going to win the Rumble, win the title, get an open top bus, parade it around the UK as the only ever British champion.”

McIntyre expanded on this dream, suggesting that WWE could hold its biggest event of the year, "WrestleMania," in his native Scotland.
“I have the chance to get this title, pull off the big one on Saturday. I’ve got to overcome Cody’s politics and influence to make sure I win the big one. Then I’ll bring the title home, then we have ourselves a parade and take it to WrestleMania. We’ve got places we can have WrestleMania. We can have it at Murrayfield, and everyone would travel, not just from in the UK."

He also envisioned the media opportunities that would come with such an event. "Then we get to check out the lovely scenery. I’d love to actually see some of the scenery. I cannot wait to do media on top of Edinburgh Castle or something.
Head to some of the football games, a few Rangers games, we’ll finally be back on form after a disastrous start to the season. I’ll be right there, for one WrestleMania.”

Unfortunately for McIntyre, those plans for a UK title parade have been put on hold. Despite his best efforts at "Saturday Night's Main Event" this past Saturday, November 1st, McIntyre once again fell short in a championship match, as he was defeated by Undisputed WWE Champion Cody Rhodes.
The conclusion of the match was not without its share of controversy. In the closing stages, the referee was inadvertently knocked down. McIntyre seized the opportunity and attempted to hit Rhodes with the physical title belt.
Rhodes managed to escape the attack and countered by hitting McIntyre with a DDT onto the championship belt, which was enough to secure the pinfall victory. This loss at the Salt Lake City event caps off a rough ten months for McIntyre, who has now tasted defeat in several high-profile championship matches throughout 2025.
