Dominik Mysterio has a plan to win back the Intercontinental Championship. He is willing to put everything on the line to make it happen.

Ahead of his AAA Mega Championship defense this Saturday at Rey de Reyes, Mysterio spoke with Brad Gilmore on The Collection Podcast. He opened up about his mindset heading into the bout before turning his attention to WrestleMania 42 and his desire to reclaim the gold Penta took from him earlier this month.

"So first things first, I gotta retain my AAA Mega Campionato this Saturday at Rey de Reyes, which obviously is not a problem," Mysterio said. "But I think going into it, I want my IC Championship back. I don't care what I have to do. I know Penta's an ugly, ugly dude. So, I'm willing to put my hair up on the line against his mask and that IC Championship if he's more than willing to. Hell, I'll even put up my mustache, whatever it takes to get my IC title back."

Mysterio did not hold back when addressing how the title changed hands, placing the blame squarely on his Judgment Day stablemate Finn Balor.

"At the end of the day, I beat this dude probably seven or eight times already," he said. "He got lucky on this last one because of Finn Balor's dumb*ss."

Penta defeated Mysterio to capture the Intercontinental Championship on the March 2 edition of Raw in Indianapolis. During the match, tensions within The Judgment Day again played a factor. Balor prevented JD McDonagh from handing Mysterio a bell, insisting that Mysterio had said he wanted to win on his own. Penta capitalized on the resulting chaos, hitting the Mexican Destroyer for the pinfall victory.

The loss snapped Mysterio's second Intercontinental Championship reign, which had begun at Survivor Series: WarGames in November 2025 when he defeated John Cena. His first reign, which he won at WrestleMania 41, lasted 204 days.

Despite the setback, Mysterio made clear he has no intention of leaving Las Vegas empty-handed come WrestleMania 42. He expressed confidence that he and Liv Morgan would both walk out of the event as champions.

"I would like to walk in as a double champ or walk out as double champ of WrestleMania," he said.

The double-championship goal is very much within reach on paper. Mysterio currently holds the AAA Mega Championship, a title he won on September 12, 2025, at Worlds Collide: Las Vegas when he defeated El Hijo del Vikingo. He has a significant test ahead of him this weekend before any WrestleMania plans can come to fruition.

Mysterio defends the AAA Mega Championship against Vikingo in a no-disqualification match at Rey de Reyes on Saturday at Auditorio GNP Seguros in Puebla, Mexico. The stipulations are steep on both sides: if Mysterio wins, Vikingo will be barred from challenging for the title as long as Mysterio holds it. If Vikingo wins, Mysterio must leave AAA entirely.

With the Rey de Reyes stakes this high and WrestleMania 42 on the horizon for April 18-19 at Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas, the next several weeks will define where Mysterio stands heading into WWE's biggest show of the year. Meanwhile, the fallout from his Intercontinental Championship loss continued on the following Raw, where Balor was beaten down by Mysterio, McDonagh, Liv Morgan, and Raquel Rodriguez, signaling a new chapter for The Judgment Day with Balor pushed out of the group.
