On June 6, the United States Men’s National Team will play its farewell match in Chicago versus Germany. On Thursday morning, the federation made the announcement while also sharing the link to the tickets, which are now on sale.
Taking place at Soldier Field, Mauricio Pochettino’s side will then head to Los Angeles, where the USMNT will face off versus Paraguay on June 12.
The send-off match has become a customary practice for most national teams that have qualified for the planet’s most recognizable competition. Germany is a proven side chock-full of pedigree and quality. While the U.S. likely won’t overexert their projected starting XI less than a week before their first World Cup match, it’s a nice way for the squad to keep sharp versus a very good opponent.

There’s real momentum within the program at this given time. Pochettino’s tenure did get off to a somewhat rocky start, and there were questions as to why he was so reliant on funneling players in and out of the pool.
However, things have turned in a very positive direction. The constant roster turnover has built real depth within the squad. Youngers Alex Freeman, Sebastian Berhalter, Max Arfsten, Matt Freese, Tanner Tessmann, Malik Tillman, and Patrick Agyemang have all become fixtures under his stewardship.
The team’s spine of Tyler Adams, Weston McKennie, Antonee Robinson, Chris Richards, Tim Weah, and Sergino Dest remain. Of course, the team’s most dynamic attacking options in Christian Pulisic and Folarin Balogun will lead the charge up front.

Pochettino’s side is peaking at the right time. Unbeaten in its last five matches (4-0-1), the USMNT has recently garnered victories over the likes of Uruguay, Australia, Paraguay, and Ecuador.
Ironically enough, both Paraguay and Australia are in Group D with the Americans. The fourth team is TBD, though it will be one of four teams from Europe (Turkey, Romania, Kosovo, Slovakia).
Including the lead-up match to the World Cup against Germany, the U.S. will also play Belgium, Portugal, and Senegal.
