Ty Dillon, at the age of 32, is returning to the NASCAR Cup Series full-time for the 2025 season and has sent a strong warning to his competition.

He will be racing with Kaulig Racing, a move that represents a considerable change in his career after difficult stints with Germain Racing and Spire Motorsports from 2017 through 2023. Kaulig Racing is not only Dillon's first full-time seat since 2023, but it's also a seat that has a history of wins.

Ty Dillon

...

In an interview with Bob Pockrass of Fox Sports (above), Ty Dillon admitted his excitement about the opportunity with Kaulig Racing.

"For me, you know, this is the best opportunity I've had in my career, being with Kaulig Racing. My goals are high. I got into this sport to want to win races in the Cup Series and compete, to be in the playoffs, and I know this is my best opportunity yet.

"This is a team that has done that in the past. They've been to victory lane in this Cup Series in recent years. So, that's something new for me to say that I'm a part of a team that's actually won before me, you know, being a part of their team. So, I'm excited for that opportunity.

"I think this is the best chance for me to show what I'm capable of, what I've always believed in myself as a driver, and the opportunity ahead of me that I've been working so hard for."

During the 2024 season, Dillon managed to secure three top-20 finishes out of five races with Kaulig Racing, proving a level of capability. Especially noteworthy was his 16th-place finish at Texas, which proved his ability to handle the Chevrolet Camaro ZL1 effectively, helping to earn him a full-time role for 2025.

His consistent performance has obviously earned the trust of Kaulig Racing.

The team, for its part, is making moves to establish itself as a robust competitor in the NASCAR Cup Series. The team has formed a technical alliance with Richard Childress Racing, leveraging Ty Dillon's family connection to Richard Childress.

This partnership is poised to provide necessary technical support, and other strategic moves include securing essential sponsorships. For the 2025 season, Kaulig Racing has entered into multi-race sponsorship deals, with Sea Best Seafood as the primary sponsor for 20 races, and Grizzly Nicotine Pouches for nine races.

Additionally, Andrew Dickeson has been appointed as the crew chief, bringing with him a wealth of experience from a successful collaboration in the Xfinity Series.

Despite over 244 Cup starts, Dillon's goal for 2025 is to secure his first top-25 season finish by capitalizing on Kaulig's substantial resources. There remains a level of skepticism given Dillon's long gap since his last national win during a 2014 Xfinity race. Fortunately, he will have the support of veteran driver AJ Allmendinger, which offers a valuable source of mentorship and shared data to help elevate the driver's performance.

Historically, Kaulig Racing is growing from a part-time team to a serious contender in the Cup Series, especially after its acquisition of Stewart-Haas Racing's No. 10 car. Dillon's family background, including his brother Austin Dillon who is a Cup champion, adds further expectations.

Experts have had cautious optimism about Kaulig Racing's trajectory so far. They point to the team's financial backing, technical support from RCR, and Dillon's steady driving approach, characterized by relatively few career DNFs. However, with an average finish of just 24.4 in the Cup series, and Kaulig Racing's limited experience with the playoffs, this season may be a challenge for the young North Carolina driver.

As Dillon embarks on this new phase of his career, the 2025 NASCAR season might be the proving ground he needs to establish a legacy of his own. The upcoming season could set the tone for important developments and storylines that will affect both Dillon's career and Kaulig Racing's status in the competitive realm of NASCAR. With his eyes set firmly on victory, Ty Dillon's return promises to be an exciting storyline to watch.
