The Minnesota Vikings are rolling with a new starting quarterback in Week 9 as Kyler Murray deals with a "week-to-week" hamstring injury, head coach Kevin O'Connell announced when speaking to reporters on Thursday.
Veteran signal caller Carson Wentz will serve as QB1 for this coming Monday's primetime clash against Josh Allen and the Buffalo Bills.
Murray quarterbacked the Vikings through a 6-0 start to the 2026 season, but the team dropped its first loss of the year against the division-rival Detroit Lions this past weekend. The Vikings offense has leaned heavily on the team's Brian Flores-led defense, with Murray throwing just five touchdown passes through his six game appearances.

Wentz got some early playing time this season after Murray suffered a concussion in the first quarter of Week 1. Through his two game appearances and one start, the 33-year-old QB completed 59% of his pass attempts for 276 yards, three touchdowns and zero interceptions.
Wentz will look to get the Vikings back on track in a difficult matchup against the visiting Bills, who are also 6-1 to begin their 2026 campaign.
