After missing the playoffs for the second straight season, the Miami Dolphins decided to part ways with head coach Mike McDaniel after four seasons with the team.
They’ve already moved on, hiring Green Bay Packers defensive coordinator Jeff Hafley as their next head coach, while McDaniel is expected to become the new offensive coordinator for the Los Angeles Chargers, a move announced on Tuesday.
Reacting to the news was Dolphins star wide receiver Tyreek Hill, who suffered a season-ending injury in Week 4 and remains under contract in Miami through next season.

"Mike to the Chargers, hm," Hill posted on X, sparking speculation about his future in Miami, where he has hinted at leaving several times over the past year.

Hill’s time in Miami has certainly been a rollercoaster. Statistically, his first two seasons under Mike McDaniel were the best of his career, while the past two seasons — including this one, cut short by injury— have been the opposite.
That said, his respect for McDaniel remains clear. If the Dolphins decide to move Hill this offseason to clear cap space and begin what appears to be a likely rebuild, the Los Angeles Chargers could emerge as a potential landing spot for the star wide receiver to help quarterback Justin Herbert.

The stipulations of McDaniel’s contract are still in effect, which could leave the door open for him to pursue a head coaching job if an opportunity arises this offseason.
However, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter, all signs still point to McDaniel joining Jim Harbaugh’s staff — a move that could create a very intriguing team from top to bottom, loaded with talent and high expectations, especially after the Chargers’ back-to-back early playoff exits over the past two seasons.
