Arizona Cardinals tight end Trey McBride had a career-best season in 2025, and that led to the Madden NFL 27 video game announcing him as one of six members of their exclusive 99 Club.

McBride begins the season and video game with a 99 player rating, the highest achievable rating in the game. It's based on real-life NFL performances, and McBride clearly earned the honor with his stats.

"I mean, shoot, that's pretty cool, right? I played this game for a long time. I grew up playing Madden, and to get that recognition is pretty special. It's something I've worked extremely hard for, and it's something that didn't just come in one year. Didn't come overnight. It's something that's been a gradual incline," he said, jokingly adding, "But it's a video game, so it is what it is."

"It is pretty special to get that recognition from EA," he added, mentioning that he was sure teammates were going to rub it in his face on the field.

"It's just very exciting. Very fun. It's a huge honor and something that I'm very proud of," McBride said at a Cardinals media session regarding an earlier report that he would be in the club.

The Cardinals tight end is joined by Buffalo Bills quarterback Josh Allen, Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford, Rams defensive end Myles Garrett, Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Ja'Marr Chase, and the Seattle Seahawks' Jaxon Smith-Njigba.

McBride earned his way into this year's Madden 99 Club with a strong body of work in his breakout season. It included 126 receptions for 1,239 yards and 11 touchdowns. He set the single-season receptions record for tight ends and led all players at the position in 2025-26 for receiving yards.

The Cardinals are hoping for McBride to continue his rise in terms of production in the upcoming season. However, this will be his first season without Kyler Murray throwing him the ball.

Instead, the Cardinals' starting QB will be Jacoby Brissett, who just agreed to a reworked $15.5 million contract with the team. According to Fox Sports, Arizona is projected to win at least four games this upcoming season, giving them a low bar for success in 2026.

Because of that situation, it won't be surprising to see this team among the top squads in the 2027 NFL Draft and attempting to land the next star quarterback.
