The Tennessee Titans are 1-7, yet two of their first-year players have collected league awards in back-to-back months.

Wide receiver Carnell Tate won October’s NFL Offensive Rookie of the Month award, the Titans announced on Nov. 5. No Titans player had won the offensive version since A.J. Brown in December 2019.

Tate caught 21 passes for 290 yards and a touchdown across four October games. His 13.8-yard average topped every rookie who had a dozen or more grabs.

No rookie topped his receiving yardage between Weeks 4 and 8, and 13 of his grabs moved the chains.

His breakout came on Oct. 4 against the Baltimore Ravens, where he caught nine passes for 145 yards. That was the biggest receiving day by a Titan since Brown in 2021.

Late in that game, he converted a fourth-and-11 with a 33-yard catch that set up the Titans at the Ravens’ 3-yard line.

Against the Indianapolis Colts on Oct. 18, he scored his first NFL touchdown, an 8-yard grab from quarterback Cam Ward that knotted the game at 13-13 during the fourth.

A 36-yard pass interference call he drew fueled the winning drive, and Tennessee left with its only victory so far.

Houston Texans defenders held him to one 6-yard catch on Oct. 11. Against the Cleveland Browns on Oct. 25, Tate posted a team-best five catches for 69 yards.

Injury kept Tate out of the Week 8 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals, yet his 413 receiving yards still pace the Titans.

Bill Groman, who had 553 in 1960, and Ernest Givins, who had 485 in 1986, were the franchise’s only other rookies to top 400 yards over the club’s opening seven games.

Tennessee drafted Tate, 21, out of Ohio State with the No. 4 overall pick in 2026.

Linebacker Anthony Hill Jr., a second-round pick, won Defensive Rookie of the Month for September after a team-high 34 tackles. No pair of Titans teammates had both won the monthly rookie award within one season before.
