Training camp is officially underway for several NFL teams while others will be easing into camp throughout the next week.
The Arizona Cardinals and Carolina Panthers kick off the 2026 preseason with their Hall of Fame Game clash on Thursday, Aug. 6 on NBC, and Week 1 of the preseason officially kicks off the following week on Aug. 13.
As we count down the days until the start of the NFL regular season — which kicks off with a Super Bowl LX rematch between the Seattle Seahawks and New England Patriots on “Sunday Night Football” on Sept. 9 — we continue to look at key offseason storylines for each of the league’s 32 teams.

This week, we’re looking as the players most in danger of being cut during the preseason, and we’ve arrived at the Chicago Bears.
Roschon Johnson, RB
Johnson was once looked at as part of Chicago’s future at running back after rushing for 352 yards as a rookie and scoring six touchdowns in 2024, but he played just seven games last season and recorded just two carries.
But after Kyle Monangai rushed for 783 yards and five touchdowns as a rookie, and the team signed Salvon Ahmed early in the offseason, Johnson’s future in Chicago is looking more murky. It’s possible Johnson could find himself looking for a new team come August.

...
Scotty Miller, WR
Chicago’s wide receiver depth was part of the reason the team dealt D.J. Moore to the Buffalo Bills. Fortunately for the Bears, they’re going to be just fine with Luther Burden III and Rome Odunze leading their WR corps.
Kalif Raymond was signed as a free agent, and rookie Zavion Thomas has turned quite a few heads after being drafted in the third round in April’s draft. Scotty Miller was a solid depth signing at the time, but the closer we get to the start of the regular season, the more likely it is that Miller gets pushed down the depth chart and possibly even released.
Jaylon Jones, CB
The Bears have three strong cornerback options in Jaylon Johnson, Kyler Gordon, and Tyrique Stevenson, and fourth-round rookie Malik Muhammad has lots of upside as well.
But they also have a lot of other corners who mostly all play the same role in Jaylon Jones, Josh Blackwell, KC Eziomume, Dallis Flowers, Cam Lewis, Dontae Manning, and Terrell Smith. Given jones is 29, it wouldn’t be surprising if Chicago let him go in order to give some younger players more opportunities.
