The Houston Texans are having a rough start to their 2025 NFL season.
The Texans' offense appears not to be in sync, and the defense continues to struggle with quality opponents. Through their 0-3 start, Houston has seemingly not found a way to remedy their schedule thus far.
What is even more interesting is that the Texans have lost all three of their games in close scoring situations. Whatever appears to be about this team has only gotten stranger.

Multiple reports have indicated that the Texans are releasing Super Bowl champion and former interceptions co-leader C.J. Gardner-Johnson. Gardner-Johnson's release is a complete surprise, given that he is still a strong and viable safety.
Gardner-Johnson led the league with six interceptions during the 2022 season as a member of the Philadelphia Eagles.
Gardner-Johnson may be struggling, but his release has come as a complete surprise. He has only given up a 66.7 completion percentage and 92.0 passer rating to opposing quarterbacks through three contests.
What makes his release even more shocking is that the Texans converted $6.58M of Gardner-Johnson's into a signing bonus.
Gardner-Johnson has also not given up a touchdown thus far. There was a tense moment between the safety and Tampa Bay Buccaneers quarterback Baker Mayfield, though that did not seem enough for the Texans to release him.
Still, the Texans are apparently taking drastic measures to help rebound their season.
The Texans are set to face the Tennessee Titans and Baltimore Ravens next. On paper, the Titans are a far worse team, but the Ravens will surely be a problem to deal with.
For some reason, the Texans viewed Gardner-Johnson as a problem and have chosen to move on from the veteran safety. It would be expected that he will find a new team sooner rather than later.
