For the fantasy teams that finish their season in Week 18, the darts will be following at some position this week. Multiple top quarterbacks won’t play this week, while others could have an early hook, deeming them worthless to fantasy teams. Each team's betting line can be a helpful tool to avoid players who won’t reach a playable floor.

Tanner McKee, Philadelphia Eagles

The Eagles will rest their starting players this week, putting Hurts in the avoid column. Tanner McKee is expected to start, which he did as well in Week 18 in 2024 (27-for-41 for 269 passing yards with two touchdowns). I view him as a viable cover for Hurts’ teams due to the Eagles’ favorable matchup against Washington. His top target should be Jahan Dotson, who averages just over one catch per game over his 37 contests since arriving in Philadelphia. He had seven catches for 94 yards in Week 18 last season with McKee behind center.

Trey Lance, Los Angeles Chargers

The Chargers have pulled their top offensive players in their game against the Broncos, highlighted by Denver being favored by 12.5 points with a low game total (37.5). Trey Lance will get the start, while rookie wide receivers Tre' Harris and KeAndre Lambert-Smith potentially lead the team in snaps and targets. Jared Patterson should be Los Angeles' top running back with the rest of the Chargers’ backs battling injuries coming into Week 18.

Tyler Shough, New Orleans Saints

Over the past three weeks, Shough averaged 22.08 fantasy points in four-point passing touchdown formats, ranking him eighth at the quarterback position. He was trending toward a Week 18 fantasy start on the road against the Falcons, but his top receiving option, Chris Olave, was scratched due to a blood clot in his lung. I don’t respect the rest of the Saints’ wide receivers, leaving Shough with one trusted asset – Juwan Johnson (74/828/3 on 98 targets).

Aidan O’Connell, Las Vegas Raiders

The Raiders suggested this week that Kenny Pickett and O’Connell would share snaps this week. Las Vegas is almost locked in as the number one pick for the 2026 NFL Draft, suggesting they have no intention of winning this game. This thought process was supported by the Raiders shutting down TE Brock Bowers and DE Max Crosby for the year before facing the Giants in Week 17. Both quarterbacks offer no starting fantasy value.

Clayton Tune, Green Bay Packers

The Packers’ top two quarterbacks are banged up, giving Tune the start in a meaningless game against the Vikings. Minnesota is favored by 7.5 points with a low game total (35.5), suggesting fewer than two touchdowns by Green Bay’s offense.

Here are the most trusted quarterbacks in Week 18 with something to play for, but not ranked in order. The second run of my projections will provide a clearer picture of the best quarterback plays this week.

A low game total (38.5) for the Bills suggests that Josh Allen will get hooked at some point in the game. The Rams could also pull Matthew Stafford if the 49ers beat Seattle.
