The New Orleans Saints have several players who could make a case for being the team's most important non-quarterback in 2026. Alvin Kamara is one of the league's most versatile veterans. Chase Young is gunning to lead the pass rush. But Chris Olave is where it's at.

Olave has already established himself as one of the NFL's smoothest route runners. For any quarterback under center, having a receiver who can get open quickly is simply wonderful.

The biggest question isn't talent. It's availability.

Concussions have interrupted Olave's career, making his health one of the biggest storylines surrounding the Saints. When he's on the field, the offense simply operates differently. Defenses have to respect his ability to stretch the field, opening opportunities for everyone else in the formation.

That's the kind of impact few receivers have.

Kamara deserves plenty of credit for everything he continues to bring to New Orleans. Even as one of the league's veteran running backs, he remains a dangerous weapon who can change games as both a runner and receiver. His leadership has also become increasingly valuable for a younger offensive group.

On the other side of the ball, Young could be just as important to the Saints' defensive success. New Orleans needs a consistent edge rusher who can disrupt quarterbacks.

Still, Olave is the player who raises the ceiling of the entire offense.

If Olave stays healthy throughout the 2026 season, he'll give New Orleans its best chance to field the balanced, cutting offense the franchise has been searching for.
