The New Orleans Saints just locked up their biggest weapon on offense, signing wide receiver Chris Olave to a four-year extension worth up to $132 million, including $90 million guaranteed. That ties him with the New York Jets' Garrett Wilson for the sixth-most guaranteed money among NFL wide receivers.

This deal had been brewing for a while. General manager Mickey Loomis said earlier in the week that they wanted to get a deal done but that it "has to be right for both parties." They've clearly found that middle ground — Olave is set to earn around $33 million annually, tied with the Pittsburgh Steelers' DK Metcalf for the sixth-highest AAV of any wide receiver in the NFL.

Olave will play the 2026 season under his $15.49 million fifth-year option before the new contract kicks in.

Olave is coming off the best season of his young NFL career. He caught 100 passes for 1,163 yards and nine touchdowns in 2025, earning second-team All-Pro honors while putting together his third 1,000-yard season in four years.

Remarkably, he's done that cycling through a long list of quarterbacks. Before the Saints landed on last year's second-round rookie Tyler Shough, Olave had been catching passes from Andy Dalton, Jameis Winston, Taysom Hill, Derek Carr, Jake Haener, and Spencer Rattler.

Olave's draft classmates Wilson and Sauce Gardner both signed extensions with the Jets last offseason, with Wilson landing a four-year, $130 million deal and Gardner securing a four-year, $120.4 million deal.

Just last month, another one of Olave's 2022 classmates got his bag, with Atlanta Falcons wideout Drake London signing a four-year, $141 million extension. That $35.3 million annual salary helped push the market even higher heading into Olave's negotiation.

The Saints clearly see Olave as a foundational piece of what they're building. The team drafted receiver Jordyn Tyson in the 2026 NFL Draft to pair with Olave, not replace him — giving Shough two elite young pass catchers for what could be a big year in New Orleans.
