The San Francisco 49ers extended their undefeated record with a 23-17 win over the Washington Commanders on Monday night, moving to 6-0 on the season.
The 49ers recorded this victory despite the absence of several key pass catchers, including veteran wide receivers Mike Evans and Deebo Samuel. But what the team lacked in offensive weapons, they made up for with the play-calling of head coach Kyle Shanahan.
Former NFL quarterback turned analyst Russell Wilson took notice of this play calling, describing it as "elite."

"Play calling by Kyle Shanahan is ELITE! Multiplicity of personnel’s, concepts, and Tempos… ELITE," Wilson wrote on social media.
The 49ers, who took a 20-3 lead into the halftime break at Levi's Stadium, nearly allowed the Commanders to fight their way back on Monday night. However, they held on to maintain their undefeated record heading into Week 7.
“You’re not always happy exactly with how some of the stuff was frustrating, but real proud of the guys for just the competitive stamina to keep it going all game,” Shanahan told reporters postgame. “I was really proud of the defense for finding a way to overcome.”
