The Tennessee Titans are headed into a new era during the upcoming 2025 NFL season. After years of searching for a legitimate franchise quarterback, the team feels that it has finally found just that.
With the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Titans selected former Miami Hurricanes standout quarterback Cam Ward. He will replace Will Levis, who was drafted in the second round of the 2023 draft.
Levis came into the league with a lot of hype surrounding him. Unfortunately, he was never able to put it all together.

Throughout his first two years, Levis played in 21 games. He completed 61 percent of his pass attempts for 3,899 yards, 21 touchdowns, and 16 interceptions, while also running for 240 yards and a touchdown.

At just 26 years old, his career is far from over. However, Tennessee needed to move in a different direction.
According to a statement directly from the Titans, it's a good thing they did. Levis has been ruled out for the entire 2025 season and will undergo shoulder surgery.
"After consulting with doctors and his representatives, Will Levis has decided to undergo shoulder surgery that will sideline him for the entire 2025 season," the statement read.
"We support his decision to focus on his long-term health. He approached the offseason with professionalism and showed clear growth as a leader. We remain confident in his full recovery."
Ward was always going to be the starter. Tennessee isn't going to take a step back due to this news, but the team may want to find a better backup behind their No. 1 overall pick.
Currently, the Titans have 32-year-old veteran quarterback Brandon Allen as the primary backup.

Looking closer at Ward, the 23-year-old signal caller is coming off of a big year with Miami last season in college. He threw for 4,313 yards, 39 touchdowns, and just seven interceptions, while completing 67.2 percent of his passes. He also ran for 204 yards and four more scores.
While Tennessee may not be a serious contender this season, Ward could be the guy that leads them back to the playoffs in the near future. How Levis will fit into that puzzle remains completely unknown, especially following this news.
Only time will tell, but for now Levis will target returning to the field in 2026.
