The Baltimore Ravens will look to escape the AFC North cellar and prove they're still legitimate title contenders when they face the Buffalo Bills on Sunday.

A franchise icon gave the team a pep talk before the seismic Week 8 matchup.

According to NFL Network's Ian Rapoport, Ray Lewis addressed the Ravens on Friday. The Hall of Fame linebacker discussed "togetherness and cohesiveness" during a "pretty intense" speech.

Rapoport added that Lewis's presence wasn't a direct response to the Ravens allowing 35 second-half points in a Week 7 loss to the Cincinnati Bengals. Head coach Jesse Minter had already worked to nab the 12-time Pro Bowler as one of several guest speakers throughout the season.

Lewis still could have been the perfect person to motivate the Ravens after last Sunday's debacle. They jumped to a 13-0 lead over the Cincinnati Bengals before Joe Burrow led five consecutive touchdown drives to hand Baltimore a painful division loss.

The Ravens begin Sunday last in the AFC North at 4-3, and their defense faces another elite quarterback. Josh Allen has accounted for 17 touchdowns in six games this season, making an early MVP case with a career-high 8.8 yards per pass attempt and 76.6 QBR.

Yet Lamar Jackson will return after missing three games with a high ankle sprain. The two-time MVP called his ankle pain "bearable," but he understands the magnitude of Sunday's game at Orchard Park.

"The sense of urgency is extremely high," Jackson said Friday, per ESPN's Jamison Hensley. "We're trying to get back to where we should be."

CBS will broadcast the Week 8 game between the Ravens and Bills at 1 p.m. ET.
