For the first time since 2008, the Baltimore Ravens will have a head coach not named John Harbaugh.
The team moved on from the 60-year-old Harbaugh, who agreed to become the head coach of the New York Giants on Thursday, this week after a disappointing 8-9 finish and missing out on the playoffs for just the second time in the last eight seasons.
During his news conference after releasing the longtime head coach, Ravens owner Steve Bisciotti admitted to reporters there were as many as 16 candidates the team was considering to fill its head coaching vacancy.

Bisciotti also admitted that multiple college head coaches had reached out to the organization to express interest in the job — and he didn’t dismiss the possibility of finding Harbaugh’s successor in the college ranks.

“I don’t know how hard that would be [to jump from college to the NFL],” Bisciotti said Tuesday. “There's been a couple college coaches that have reached out to us — we did not reach out to college coaches.
“But if I was a college coach dealing with that portal and NIL, I’d be at my doorstep. … I’m friends with some college coaches, and it’s a living hell. If Eric is interested in a college coach, he's welcome to interview them.”
During his 18 seasons in Baltimore, Harbaugh compiled a 180-113 record with 12 playoff appearances, six division titles, four AFC Championship Game appearances, and one Super Bowl championship.
Replacing someone with Harbaugh’s pedigree will be a tall order.

But if the Ravens are considering any college head coaches, they could land a pretty prestigious candidate.
According to Pro Football Talk’s Mike Florio, a source from one NFL team told him: “I think you will see multiple top program college coaches look to move.”
No names were given, but high-profile coaches who’ve been linked to potential NFL opportunities include Notre Dame’s Marcus Freeman, Indiana’s Curt Cignetti, and Texas’ Steve Sarkisian.
Other NFL teams looking for a new head coach include the Arizona Cardinals, Atlanta Falcons, Cleveland Browns, Las Vegas Raiders, Miami Dolphins, Pittsburgh Steelers, and Tennessee Titans.
