Initially, it did not seem that Nacua suffered the injury on the fall, but he had to be helped off the field by medical staff. Per NFL insider Ian Rapoport, Nacua suffered an ankle sprain, and he is unlikely to play in Week 7 against the Jacksonville Jaguars. However, he may return once the Rams have their Week 8 bye.
"#Rams WR Puka Nacua, the NFL’s leader in catches, suffered an ankle sprain that will likely cause him to miss time, per me and @MikeGarafolo. It would make sense for Nacua to be out next week against the #Jaguars, then LAR has a bye to regroup and assess," Rapoport wrote on X.

Nacua has been one of the best receivers in the league in 2025, pulling down a league-leading 54 receptions and 616 yards. He is now second to Seattle Seahawks' Jaxon Smith-Njigba, who leads the NFL with 696 yards.
The Rams receiver has been on a trajectory that would likely net an Offensive Player of the Year nomination, but it appears that he will miss one game. The hope for Los Angeles would be that he heals enough to make it back for Week 9 against the New Orleans Saints.
Los Angeles is 4-2, along with the San Francisco 49ers and Seahawks. With the NFC West race rolling on and remaining tight, the Rams need their players to remain healthy.
It may not have been the best idea for Nacua to return to the field, but now he has some time to heal and get his ankle right before he suits up again.
