The Chicago Bears enter Sunday night's chilly contest against the Los Angeles Rams as significant underdogs.

The NFC North champions will host the Rams at Soldier Field after defeating the Green Bay Packers 31-27 via a spectacular comeback that saw the Bears outscore their opponent 25-6 in the fourth quarter. The visiting Rams nearly squeaked by an 8-9 Carolina Panthers team in the wild-card round.

Per DraftKings, Chicago is a 4.5-point underdog. As Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk noted, the Rams are the third-biggest road favorites since the AFL-NFL merger in 1970.

Former NFL quarterback David Carr had a bold prediction for Sunday night's contest. Carr thinks the Rams will "humiliate" the Bears.

"Rams head coach Sean McVay and offensive coordinator Mike LaFleur scheme up a game plan for the ages to beat the Bears by 21 at Soldier Field," Carr wrote. "It's Mike who ousts Ben Johnson from the playoffs and sends him home with his own frosty handshake, getting revenge for his brother, Packers head coach Matt LaFleur."

Carr's colleague Matt Okada also thinks the Rams move on to the NFC championship to face the winner of the contest between the San Francisco 49ers and Seattle Seahawks on Saturday. However, he thinks the game will be close and will feature the most points in a postseason game in league history.

"The highest-scoring postseason game in NFL history was an NFC West-NFC North showdown back in the 2009 Wild Card Round," Okada wrote. "In that game, 38-year-old Kurt Warner and the Cardinals defeated 26-year-old Aaron Rodgers and the Packers, 51-45, in an overtime thriller.

"We'll get a little déjà vu on Sunday evening, when the Rams, led by seasoned veteran Matthew Stafford, top the Bears, led by second-year pro Caleb Williams, 52-45, breaking the record (by one point) and sending Los Angeles back to the NFC Championship Game."

Both defenses should be tested with Bears quarterback Caleb Williams and Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford playing well in recent weeks.

The Bears won the most recent contest between the two teams in a 24-18 score during the 2024 season.
