The Los Angeles Rams will be without superstar wide receiver Puka Nacua for their "Monday Night Football" matchup against the New York Giants.

Nacua was initially listed as questionable to play as continues to deal with the hip injury that held him off the practice field on Saturday. Head coach Sean McVay said the 25-year-old pass catcher was working through "a little bit of soreness" ahead of Monday night's primetime matchup.

McVay also said the Rams are "being smart" with Nacua as he deals with this early season injury. This issue is not related to the psoas injury that kept him off the field for some time during training camp.

Nacua didn't live up to his typical standards in the Rams' Week 1 loss to the San Francisco 49ers, reeling in five catches for 74 yards and no scores. His next opportunity to return to the field is a Week 3 matchup against the Denver Broncos this coming Sunday.

The Rams also ruled out wide receiver Jordan Whittington, leaving even more pressure on the shoulders of veteran pass catcher Davante Adams.

Monday's game will kick off at 8:15 p.m. ET.
