The Los Angeles Rams finally have some momentum after Sunday’s win over the winless Los Angeles Chargers, but they’re still firmly behind two of their NFC West rivals who are loading up for an extended postseason run.
The division-leading San Francisco 49ers brought back three-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle DeForest Buckner from the Indianapolis Colts last Tuesday for a 2027 fourth-round pick. That same day, the defending Super Bowl champion Seattle Seahawks landed eight-time Pro Bowl guard Quenton Nelson from Indianapolis for a 2027 third-rounder and a 2028 fifth-rounder.
With both teams bolstering their rosters, the Rams might not be content to stand pat.

Fox Sports’ Eric D. Williams reported Los Angeles could potentially explore a potential high-profile trade of its own in an effort to keep up with their division foes.
“A league source told me it’s possible the Los Angeles Rams could be willing to join the arms race,” Williams wrote. “It would make sense, considering that’s how Los Angeles has built championship contenders in years past, by giving up premium picks for premium players like Von Miller and Jalen Ramsey at the trade deadline.”

Pulling off another blockbuster won’t be easy, however.
The Rams have the least salary-cap space in the NFL, and they have just four picks in next year’s draft after splurging on trades for edge-rusher Myles Garrett and cornerback Trent McDuffie.
Head coach Sean McVay also suggested the team’s biggest midseason additions could come from within. Garrett hasn’t played since Week 1 because of a knee injury that required surgery, while wide receiver Davante Adams missed Sunday’s game after undergoing hamstring surgery.
The Rams have won back-to-back games for the first time this season with Sunday’s 24-9 victory, but they still sit third in the NFC West — two-and-a-half games behind the 49ers.
LA may not make any actual trades, but knowing the aggressiveness of Snead, expect them to at least make some calls.
