The Las Vegas Raiders are just 2-5 on the NFL season, which doesn't really come as much of a surprise to anyone. But it is a bit jarring seeing how inept they look in Pete Carroll's debut campaign as head coach.

As a result of the Raiders' struggles, Las Vegas is expected to sell off some pieces before the NFL trade deadline, and perhaps the most obvious candidate is wide receiver Jakobi Meyers, who has made it very clear he would welcome a trade.

Raiders linked to big trade with surprising NFC contender on NFL

Cody Benjamin of CBS Sports has listed Meyers among nine top potential trade candidates between now and Nov. 4, but he has named a rather intriguing possible destination for the veteran: the Carolina Panthers.

The Panthers have won three games in a row to get to 4-3 and establish themselves as surprise playoff contenders in the NFC. Rookie wide receiver Tetairoa McMillan has been terrific, and Jalen Coker just came back from injury last weekend. Throw in the fact that Xavier Legette is starting to look better and that Jimmy Horn Jr. is oozing with potential, and Carolina actually has a pretty compelling receiving corps as it is.

That being said, the Panthers could still use a proven weapon, and Meyers would fit the bit there.

Meyers hauled in 87 receptions for 1,027 yards and four touchdowns last season and has logged 29 catches for 329 yards in six games thus far this year (he missed Week 7 with multiple injuries).

The 28-year-old was seeking a contract extension from the Raiders during the offseason, but Las Vegas declined to give him one, and with Meyers headed toward free agency after 2025 concludes, it would make sense for the Raiders to move him now to get something in return.

Of course, the question is whether or not Carolina would want to part with draft capital for a potential half-year rental. Meyers will surely have a robust market in free agency, and you have to figure that the Panthers won't be at the top of his list (unless he joins Carolina and really enjoys his time with the club).

Meyers will probably get moved at some point within the next couple of weeks, and it would be very interesting if he actually does get dealt to the Panthers, who are suddenly no longer pushovers.
