Las Vegas Raiders cornerback Darien Porter was absent at the start of Wednesday's practice while dealing with a groin injury, ESPN's Ryan McFadden reported.
The Raiders (4-4) visit the San Francisco 49ers (6-1) on Sunday after ending a four-game losing streak with a 38-33 win over the New York Jets.
Porter's absence raises another personnel question for a defense that allowed New York to score on its first six possessions. Wednesday's practice observation does not establish whether he will play against San Francisco.

Through Week 8, Porter had 19 tackles, including 14 solo stops, and five passes defensed in six games. The Raiders selected the Iowa State product in the third round of the 2025 draft, No. 68 overall.

He appeared in all 17 games as a rookie and made 10 starts. Losing him would leave Las Vegas adjusting its cornerback rotation while preparing for the NFC West leaders.
Porter injured his groin on the opening play against the Jets and did not return, Bill Williamson reported for Silver and Black Pride.
Rookie cornerbacks Jermod McCoy and Hezekiah Masses rotated after Porter left, and Williamson identified them as likely options again if he cannot play Sunday.
Las Vegas drafted McCoy out of Tennessee with the first pick of the fourth round, No. 101 overall, in April. Masses was a fifth-round selection from California at No. 175.
The Raiders also had a defender back on the practice field Wednesday. Defensive tackle Tonka Hemingway returned after suffering a stinger against New York, McFadden reported. Wide receiver Cody White was not seen practicing.
Las Vegas' problems against the Jets extended beyond the secondary. Running back Braelon Allen gained 121 yards on 18 carries before halftime as New York built a 23-14 lead.
The Raiders erased a nine-point deficit in the second half. Safety Jeremy Chinn intercepted quarterback Geno Smith's pass into the end zone with seven seconds remaining, securing the win with Las Vegas' 13th takeaway of the season.
Las Vegas visits San Francisco on Sunday at Levi's Stadium.
