The Las Vegas Raiders have gone from one of the NFL's early surprises to a team desperately searching for answers. After opening the season with three straight wins, including two road victories over the Los Angeles Chargers and New Orleans Saints, Vegas has now dropped four straight and fallen to 3-4. Sunday's Week 8 matchup against the New York Jets at MetLife Stadium is an important game for the Raiders to stop the slide before their season gets completely out of hand.
Thankfully, the Raiders could get some help on offense, with second-year wide receiver Jack Bech expected to be activated off injured reserve ahead of Sunday's game, according to NFL insider Ian Rapoport. Bech suffered a fractured forearm during their Week 3 win in New Orleans and was placed on IR shortly after. Vegas opened his 21-day return window earlier this week, allowing him to return to practice, and after practicing in full all week, it looks like he's in line to return Sunday against the Jets.

Bech was the Raiders' second-round pick in the 2025 NFL Draft after a college career split between LSU and TCU. He enjoyed a breakout 2024 season with the Horned Frogs, hauling in 62 catches for 1,034 yards and nine touchdowns, earning second-team All-Big 12 honors. He also became just the sixth player in TCU history to record a 1,000-yard receiving season.
But his rookie season with the Raiders in 2025 was underwhelming. He finished with just 29 catches for 224 yards and zero touchdowns, despite appearing in 16 games. He got off to a slightly better start this season, recording 48 yards and one touchdown on five catches in his first two games before going down with the injury.

Bech's return would give Kirk Cousins another option in a receiving group that needs more consistent production beyond Tre Tucker and Brock Bowers. Bech's skillset could be particularly valuable as someone who can make plays underneath and in the middle of the field, opening up more opportunities for deep threats like Tucker and Bowers.
After the Jets game, the Raiders will travel to San Francisco before facing the Seahawks back in Vegas, and traveling to Denver and then Cleveland before their bye week. That's a challenging stretch of games that the Raiders will be underdogs in, making Sunday's game against New York even more important.
