The Denver Broncos and Buffalo Bills left it all on the field Saturday night, with Denver outlasting Buffalo 33–30 after kicker Will Lutz drilled a 24-yard field goal in overtime to secure a spot in next week’s AFC Championship Game.

However, while it was a disappointing night for the Bills, the win didn’t come without cost for Denver. Shortly after the game, it was revealed that quarterback Bo Nix fractured his ankle on the second-to-last play when he scrambled left and slid, effectively ending his postseason. Nix is expected to undergo season-ending surgery.

Still, despite the injury and the heartbreak surrounding Bills quarterback Josh Allen following another gut-wrenching playoff loss, the respect between the two franchise quarterbacks was evident. CBS cameras captured their postgame interaction at midfield, highlighting the mutual admiration between Allen and Nix.

NFL fans quickly reacted to both the postgame interaction and the dramatic ending of the game.

“Josh Allen is amazing. However, his career trajectory will be similar to Dan Marino: always a bridesmaid, never a bride,” one fan said.

Someone else added, “Nix should be hugging the refs—getting that Mahomes treatment tonight.”

Another person wrote, “I bet he told Josh right there that he was injured.”

“Respect,” one fan commented.
