According to Bleacher Report's Brent Sobleski, Chism was the sixth best rookie across Week 2 of the NFL preseason. He hauled in six catches for 71 yards and a touchdown against the Minnesota Vikings.
Last week, we mentioned Chism as a player to watch in New England's Week 2 preseason game and he delivered in a big way.
With plays like the one highlighted in the video above, Chism may already be a lock to make the Patriots opening week 53-man roster. The organization's support for Chism was showcased at halftime of New England's game by executive VP of player personnel Eliot Wolf.
"From Day 1, it's just been consistency. He's really been a hard worker," Wolf told WBZ at halftime. "He's put in the time. He's in there every day with (wide receivers coach) Todd Downing at like 5 o'clock in the morning. The fruits of his labor are paying off here. On that drive, he had three third-down conversions. The sure willpower of breaking tackles and got into the end zone there. We're excited about him."
The New England wide receiver room features known starters Stefon Diggs, DeMario Douglas and Mack Hollins. Outside of those three, playing time is up for grabs and it appears that Chism has realized that and is making the most of his opportunity.
With just one preseason game remaining, the Patriots may heavily involve Chism in the game plan one last time to make sure he is ready to put on the 53-man roster to begin the season.
