Travis Kelce is one of the biggest and most recognizable names in sports because of everything he accomplished on the field with the Kansas City Chiefs.

However, Kelce also continued expanding his business ventures off the field, and on Wednesday, arguably his biggest move yet was publicly announced.

Kelce can now add MLB owner to his portfolio after purchasing a minority ownership stake in the Cleveland Guardians, the city where he was born and raised.

“I have so much love for this city,” Kelce told ESPN. “I say it all the time: I’m just a kid from the Heights living the dream. I credit every good thing in my life to Cleveland and being raised here with the values and the people and the work ethic. Cleveland Heights is such a diverse and dynamic place. Every friend, neighbor, teacher and teammate — they all made me the man I am today. It just fueled such a deep appreciation for life and community and service. That mentality of Cleveland against the world runs deep.

“I’ve been lucky enough to have a front-row seat to good ownership in my career, and I know the best teams prioritize culture. Everyone is there to play their role, and right now, I’m here to observe and learn and really to support the team and the city when and where I can.”

Kelce’ longtime teammate, Chiefs quarterback Patrick Mahomes, is also a minority owner in the Kansas City Royals. Shortly after news broke that Kelce was stepping into the baseball world, Mahomes congratulated him with a hilarious troll post.

While Mahomes wrote, “congratulations [Travis]” on X, he also attached a video of Kelce throwing out the first pitch at a Cleveland Guardians game in which he spiked the ball into the grass well before it reached home plate.

Interestingly enough, both Mahomes and Kelce partnered with teams in the same AL Central division, which means there could be a slight rivalry brewing between the Chiefs legends.
