With free agency just around the corner, all teams are informing some of their players that they intend to release them once the new league year starts next week.

That's standard procedure every year, as teams make moves to shed money off their books and know how much cash they'll have to spend in free agency.

That's why it wasn't odd to see Green Bay Packers star Rashan Gary post a farewell message on his Instagram account. The post said he was informed he would be released.

Nevertheless, that might not be the case after all. According to Packers insider Rob Demovsky, the post has since been deleted, and Gary's account was hacked:

"Per source, Gary has not been told he will be released or traded. In fact, his IG account was hacked, per the source," Demovsky wrote on X.

Hack or not, the Packers are more than likely to move on from Gary at some point in the near future. His $28 million cap hit is the second-biggest on the team behind only Jordan Love's ($36.1 million).

Releasing Gary now would save the Packers $10.97 million, according to Over The Cap. That number rises to $19.5 million with a post-June 1 designation.

The Packers only have $4.3 million in available cap space, and given Gary's underwhelming production, he might be one of several salary-cap casualties, along with Elgton Jenkins and potentially even Aaron Banks.

For now, however, it seems that Packers GM Brian Gutekunst has yet to make a decision, and Gary will stay with the team until said otherwise.
