The Green Bay Packers expect to lose their prized backup quarterback, Malik Willis, in free agency this offseason.
The Packers have secured their starting quarterback, Jordan Love, who is clearly the franchise player, though head coach Matt LeFleur has also dedicated significant time to developing Willis, who has emerged as a high-quality backup.
Willis made a strong impression during the games Love missed in 2025, raising his importance within the team, but seemingly catching the eye of other organizations around the league.

In a league where multiple teams need quarterbacks and have open starting roles for the taking amid a rebuild, Willis is expected to have a robust market, and according to general manager Brian Gutekunst, the Packers are expecting him to sign elsewhere.

During his end-of-the-season press conference, Gutekunst said that the team is probably going to lose Willis to a team that offers him a better chance to become a starter and likely pays him better money.
The team has a good deal of trust left in Love, seemingly not feeling the need for any kind of competition or consideration.
“I thought Jordan played really, really good football — some of his best football, especially down the stretch,” Gutekunst said.
“I actually thought he was one of our guys that played very, very well down the stretch. Continues to be an unbelievable leader for our football team. I couldn’t speak more highly of what I think about Jordan and where he’s headed.
“As good as he’s been for us, I do think he’ll continue to get better because it’s important to him. He works at his craft. He’s always looking for another edge. So, yeah, I feel really good about that.”
What other free agents do the Packers have?
Other than Willis, wide receiver Romeo Doubs and center Sean Rhyan stand out as the biggest free agents left on the offensive side of the ball, along with offensive tackle Rasheed Walker.
On defense, Quay Walker and Kingsley Enagbare are the standout names. Doubs is likely the biggest priority for the team, considering his role on the offense as a reciever. He remains the biggest red zone target for Love.
According to Spotrac, Doubs is valued at $12 million per season.
Walker is the highest valued free agent. He will turn 26 soon, and he is projected to get a $20.2 million deal.
