In just a few days, the New York Giants will kick off the 2025 season with a divisional matchup against the Washington Commanders. Amid some recent developments, the team got positive news when it comes to one of their top prospects.

While the majority of the NFC East is aiming to contend right now, the Giants are more focused on the long term. They've loaded the roster with exciting young talent, with a few players emerging as pillars for the next phase of the franchise. Among the names at the top of that list is wide receiver Malik Nabers.

After being drafted sixth overall in 2024, it didn't take long for Nabers to show the organization they made the right move by selecting him. Even with the Giants' disarray under center, he still managed to finish his rookie campaign with over 1,200 receiving yards and seven touchdowns.

NFL insider provides injury update on Giants WR Malik Nabers

Dating back to his college days, Nabers has dealt with a nagging toe injury. On top of this, he missed time ahead of the season opener due to a back ailment.

On Friday afternoon, ESPN's Adam Schefter provided the latest on the Giants' standout. Although he missed practice earlier this week, Nabers isn't on New York's injury report and will be in action when they take on the Commanders this Sunday.

Now that it's confirmed he'll be on the field, Nabers will attempt to have continued success against Washington. During his rookie campaign, he had some of his best performances when matched up with the Commanders' secondary.

Nabers had his breakout showing in the NFL in Week 2 last year in Washington. He racked up 10 receptions for 127 yards and a touchdown. Unfortunately, this production wasn't enough to secure a victory for the Giants.

Dating back to mandatory minicamp, Nabers has been building a strong connection with quarterbacks Russell Wilson and Jaxson Dart. Come Sunday, he'll have a chance to continue proving he is one of the league's up-and-coming talents at his position.
