The NFL has punished Green Bay Packers wide receiver Matthew Golden for an incident against the Carolina Panthers last week.
On Saturday, the league announced that Golden has been fined $12,537 for unnecessary roughness in the second quarter. The league described it as "striking/kicking/kneeing."
The interesting thing is Golden was not penalized during the play. It happened when he was battling Panthers defensive back Marco Wilson. The official penalized Wilson for unnecessary roughness, but he was not fined.

Christian Watson Reacts to Matthew Golden's Start to Season
Golden is in his second season with the Packers after the team selected him in the first round (No. 23 overall) in the 2025 NFL Draft. In his rookie season, Golden caught 29 passes for 361 yards in 14 games with five starts.
Through eight games this year, Golden has caught 43 passes for 619 yards and four touchdowns. He has worked well with fellow WR Christian Watson, who has caught 42 passes for 708 yards and six TDs.
"Just proud. Happy for him," said Watson of Golden's start, per Wes Hodkiewicz of Packers.com. "The first day I saw him run a route, I was like, 'All right, we're gonna have something here.' It's been exciting to see him continue to blossom that I think he knows he could be, that I knew he could be."
