The Los Angeles Chargers are off to a nightmarish start in their 2026 campaign, posting an 0-7 record.

In a recent piece published by ESPN NFL insider Jeremy Fowler, an anonymous AFC executive offered a bleak assessment of Herbert's performance so far this season.

"He doesn't seem comfortable in the offense," the executive said. "I don't know that it's a great schematic fit for his talents. He's throwing a lot of picks where he simply isn't seeing defenders. I don't know how it gets better."
Herbert, who's coming off his second career Pro-Bowl selection in 2025, has completed 61.8% of his pass attempts for 1,398 yards, five touchdowns and 10 interceptions through the Chargers' seven losses. The Los Angeles offense hasn't recorded a single touchdown since Week 5.

This coming Sunday, the Chargers will face off against the Houston Texans in a Week 9 matchup.
