The Dallas Cowboys suffered an embarrassing 33-30 loss to the Arizona Cardinals in overtime, which was frustrating for fans and players. Gardner Minshew stepped in as a backup for starter Jacoby Brissett and helped lead the visiting Cardinals to the victory over Dak Prescott and company.

Along the way, several Cowboys players' actions in the game received additional attention in the league's accountability report, updated for Week 8 on Saturday. Linebacker DeMarvion Overshown, P.J. Locke, and Rashan Gary all received fines for their actions during the game.

Overshown received a $9,528 fine for unnecessary roughness for using his helmet on a play in the second quarter that knocked out Cardinals running back Bam Knight. That particular hit resulted in a concussion, and Knight was ruled out of Sunday's game for the Cardinals against the Seattle Seahawks.

The hit also raised questions about a potential suspension for Overshown, but the NFL ultimately issued a fine instead.

Gary received a $17,911 fine for a fourth-quarter hit on Minshew involving a blow to the head or neck. The 2024 Pro Bowler clearly headbutted Minshew as he ran into him, resulting in the penalty.

A frustrated fan shared a highlight of the play where the Cowboys' outside linebacker rushed into Minshew and made helmet-to-helmet contact.

"Gary has been a sore thumb all year. not really sure why he is still here," one commenter replied.

Another suggested, "Jimmy Johnson would have cut him for that. That clears up a lot of [expletive] plays."

"Undisciplined front office leads to undisciplined coaching, which leads to undisciplined play on the field. It’s not hard," someone wrote.

Locke received the largest fine of the three Cowboys players. The Dallas safety, playing in his first season with the team, was hit with a $19,444 fine for unnecessary roughness for using his helmet while making a play in overtime.

During an overtime play, Locke lowered his helmet and made helmet-to-helmet contact with Cardinals running back Tyler Allgeier. Locke was shaken up when shown on the sideline after the play.

According to StatMuse, the Cowboys are the 10th-most penalized team in the NFL this season with 60 penalties called against them so far.

Surprisingly, the Cardinals had more penalties in the Week 8 game, receiving nine for 77 yards compared to the Cowboys' seven for 45 yards. Still, Dallas's mistakes proved costly in more ways than one, with three players receiving fines after a disappointing home loss amid their battle for position in the NFC East.

They visit the Indianapolis Colts on Sunday at 1 p.m. ET as they attempt to bounce back from the disappointing overtime loss to Arizona.
