The Baltimore Ravens were in need of a veteran quarterback following several injuries that struck during the game against the Buffalo Bills, including Lamar Jackson potentially being sidelined for the remainder of the season after surgery on his right thumb.
Backup Tyler Huntley replaced Jackson against the Bills, but only briefly. He suffered a toe injury in that game, meaning third-string quarterback Joe Fagnano, an undrafted rookie from UConn, took over. Unfortunately, Fagnano couldn't spark a comeback, as the Ravens fell to the Bills, 36-10.
To attempt to remedy their issues at quarterback, the Ravens traded with the Arizona Cardinals for their starter, Jacoby Brissett. However, CBS Sports' Pete Prisco recently delivered a harsh reality check for the Ravens amid their struggles to win games.

"He's a pro, there's no question about it, but they pulled him out of the backup pile. Let's be real," Prisco told his colleagues on "Just Football."

"That's what he is now. 'You got benched for Gardner Minshew.' That's never a good thing," the CBS Sports analyst pointed out regarding Brissett's most recent game for the Cardinals.
"I don't think [Brissett] is gonna change the fortunes of this team. There's a lot of problems on this football team right now," Prisco said. "It's not just the quarterback situation."
He contended that with Jackson's performances, the team could get past other issues, but Brissett won't be able to cure those issues.
"If Lamar's out for the year it doesn't matter .... I think the Ravens are cooked. In fact, I think the AFC Playoffs are done [for the Ravens]," Prisco suggested.
Baltimore has averaged 338.6 total yards of offense per game this season, including 205.1 passing yards per game. They rank much higher in rushing yards per game, thanks to Derrick Henry. That makes one wonder if he'll be enough to lead the team to wins with Brissett as the team's quarterback.
This season, Brissett has a 63.3% pass completion percentage and averages 214.9 passing yards per game. He's thrown 11 touchdowns, but also seven interceptions. The Cardinals were 3-5 when Brissett departed, with Minshew replacing him and leading the team to that third win in this past Sunday's overtime victory over the Dallas Cowboys.
Meanwhile, Baltimore is currently sitting fourth in the AFC North at 4-4 and has a game looming on Thursday night against the Jacksonville Jaguars, a team that has mostly been firing on all cylinders. As of this writing, Jacksonville was a 10-point favorite on DraftKings Sportsbook.
Brissett won't make his Ravens debut this evening. Instead, backup Joe Fagnano will make his first NFL start against the Jaguars. A win would put Baltimore above .500, but they'll still have a tough second half of their NFL slate, including matchups against division rivals the Pittsburgh Steelers, Cleveland Browns, and Cincinnati Bengals.
The Baltimore Ravens and the Jacksonville Jaguars kick off at 8:15 p.m. ET on Thursday, Nov. 5, on Amazon Prime Video's "Thursday Night Football" game.
