The New York Jets made the decision to get younger at the NFL trade deadline, parting ways with the likes of Sauce Gardner and Quinnen Williams for several first-round picks and several young players. Unfortunately, one high-profile addition at the deadline will not be active for the team's Week 10 game against the Cleveland Browns.
Former Texas Longhorns standout Adonai Mitchell was thrown in by the Indianapolis Colts to sweeten the deal for Sauce Gardner, giving the Jets some much-needed potential at the wide receiver position alongside Garrett Wilson.
Mitchell has yet to make much of an impact at the NFL level, largely serving as a depth piece in his brief stay in Indianapolis. However, given his status as a former second-round pick, some believe that the former Longhorn could end up carving out a nice career for himself if put in a situation to succeed.

The likes of Jets head coach Aaron Glenn and Garrett Wilson have already had plenty of positive things to say about Mitchell after his first week of practice with the team. However, the Jets seemingly don't feel good enough about where Mitchell is at this point in his new home to make him active for Sunday's game.
According to ESPN's Rich Cimini, Mitchell will be inactive for the matchup with the Browns. Meanwhile, other players New York acquired at the deadline, like Mazi Smith and John Metchie, will be active for the game.

Mitchell may simply not yet be up to speed on his new playbook. Or, maybe the Jets simply don't believe he is developed enough as a player to take part in Sunday's game.
Either way, it's a curious decision by the Jets not to let Mitchell at least see some snaps after acquiring him earlier this week. Especially considering how New York doesn't really have all that much to lose at this point in the year, sitting at 1-7 on the year.
Maybe Mitchell will feature on the Jets' offense at some point this season once he gets more familiar in his new home. For the time being, New York will look to build on their Week 8 win and put together their first win streak of the season by beating the Browns on Sunday.
